Foreign Influence: A Thriller (Scot Harvath)

By Brad Thor

Foreign Influence: A Thriller (Scot Harvath)

You can view this book's Amazon detail page here.

Foreign Influence is Brad Thor’s 9th book featuring his hero, Scot Horvath. It’s the first one I read. Although I usually like to do these things in order, this book had reasonable reviews and I was looking for an espionage-y book/quick read so I went for it. I enjoyed it and will read other Brad Thor/Scot Horvath books, but it didn’t blow me away.

Horvath isn’t one of those deeply troubled, ex-CIA assassin types that only now kills bad guys. He’s an ex-Navy SEAL who likes his job a lot. In this book, his job is killing terrorists, which works pretty well. The story is reasonably fast-paced and not too far-fetched (well, not far-fetched given the genre). The characters are a bit wild. Horvath bops around the world on the chase of a terrorist killing Americans and planning a big, nasty event in the US. You can take it from there . . .

From the book: “Remember that Islam is a religion of peace and, if you disagree, they’ll kill you.”

I wouldn’t run and pick it up, but it is a fun read if that’s what you’re looking for.
