Like a lot of the books in this genre, the book is very preachy. Idiot politicians, citizens who don’t care, CIA that’s useless . . . incompetence everywhere. I really like Thor’s hero, Scot Harvath. Regular guy, patriot, subtle-superhero type, longing to find a woman he can settle down and have kids with . . . right after he goes and slits the throats of some Islamic terrorists.

The author’s need to use this book as a bully pulpit makes it a much less enjoyable read. In my opinion, he goes over the top spending page after page discussing why most Americans and almost all politicians are too soft to understand that we’re fighting a real war and what it takes to win it. I get it. Really. Put all that stuff in the prologue, though, and leave the long-winded preachy stuff out of the main story.

Can’t recommend it. Sorry Scot, I’ll probably skip the next few episodes.
