Buried Secrets (Nick Heller)

Buried Secrets (Nick Heller)

I totally loved this book. Nick Heller, the hero, is like many others. Ex-military (once a SEAL or a ranger or something like that) or CIA, super-skilled, either quit or discharged because of their bad-boyness and now solving other people’s problems. The difference between Heller and other sorta super heroes is that Heller is a bit more subtle. More supremely skilled and less superhero-ish – no magic. The stuff he can do is cool, but always believable . . sort of.

The story is also set in and around Boston which, in my book, makes it additionally fun.

This is more of a suspense thriller than an espionage book, even though Heller’s character would lead one to think otherwise. There is a kidnapping involved and the story is well enough written that I actually squirmed in my seat several times when the situation was described. Finder didn’t bail on any facts or come up with miracles to solve problems. The story is well put together and flow beautifully. There is romance as a back story, but it’s subtle.

This is a must read if you like suspense, thrillers or ex-Navy SEAL types using their training to help ordinary people. Yeah, you know what I mean.
