Like most first authors (especially comedians, it seems), this book is an autobiography of sorts. Write what you know . . . It starts off slowly, but gains speed and is very funny. And very short. The book is allegedly about Tina Fey’s management style, but it’s really much more about her life so far. There are some insights into comedy and SNL and her experiences with 30 Rock that are enlightening. She includes a fair number of jokes, but more comical anecdotes, as you’d expect. I especially like the chapter on her father, Don Fey. Very funny.

Sometimes, Fey’s cute subliminal, parenthetic remarks are distracting and a writing cop out. That’s a small criticism, though. If it were much longer, it might not have been as enjoyable, but the combination of comedy and length make it a fun and quick read.
